The current slew of missions to Mars are remarkable ... not only as technological achievements, but as testimony to the human spirit of discovery. Mars has proven to be a difficult planet to explore, with mission after mission experiencing technical glitches or outright failures. We don't see these "failures" as a reflection on the abilities of the scientists, but we do see their determination to try again as a reflection of their character and their desire to ackquire knowledge for the betterment of all mankind.
Now if we could only get Marvin to stop messing with our landers!
